Aurora
Light is earned.
In one paragraph
Interfaces for AI products shout to earn trust. Aurora does the opposite. Black ground, hairline structure, and light only where something deserves attention, with the reasoning shown before the action.
The distance
People trust what they can follow. Most AI interfaces show an answer and hide the reasoning, so people either trust too much or not at all.
The working
Six principles, each one a rule I can check in a review:
- Light is earned. The ground is black. Light (mint to violet) appears only where something deserves attention.
- Hairlines, not shadows. Structure comes from one pixel lines.
- Two voices. A serif for the product’s voice; a sans and a mono for the machinery.
- Nothing overshoots. Decelerating curves only.
- The reason before the thing. Show the reasoning, then the action.
- Restraint is a feature. Empty is a designed state.
